The Detroit Pistons have fired head coach Monty Williams, the team announced in a press conference on Tuesday. Williams was hired just a year ago, and his firing comes after a disappointing season in which the Pistons finished with a 32-50 record.

In his introductory news conference on Tuesday, Williams discussed navigating his wife’s breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Williams is the second head coach to be fired by the Pistons in the past two years. Stan Van Gundy was fired after the 2017-18 season.

The Pistons are now searching for their third head coach in three years. The team is expected to hire a new coach before the start of the 2019-20 season.
